I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.

On Saturday, May 6th, we held our Third Annual World Fair at the Playful Learning Studio – a day for our Playful Learning families to gather and celebrate our community through hands-on learning, giving back, and of course, play!
We believe that children have an inherent desire to make a positive impact on the world, and this drive is always at the forefront of our teaching. So during our study of ecosystems, our staff spent a lot of time modeling how to be a steward of the Earth, and for our youngest learners, we knew that the learning needed to be hands-on, engaging, and tangible.
After being engaged in our study of ecosystems for several weeks, which included classroom field experiences to the pond and the farm, children had a better understanding of each of these habitats and were inspired to help care for these places even more.
Back in the studio, the children worked hard to create merchandise to sell at the World Fair.
All proceeds from our event will be donated to the Group for the East End and the work they do to preserve our local ecosystems.
In addition to selling the student-created goods, the event featured crafts, snacks, a photo booth, and a face painter.
Families also helped plant our Playful Learning vegetable garden, made butter, sprouted bean seeds and created their own herb gardens.
We’d also like to give a BIG thanks to the Playful Learning team. None of this would’ve been possible without our group of talented, dedicated, and caring teachers!
Because of them, it was a beautiful spring day filled with family, friends, joy, and lots of playful learning … 🔎🌿
There are many different ways we can reduce our human footprint. Teach children to be stewards of the Earth by discussing ways to preserve Earth’s resources and protect the creatures that inhabit her ecosystems.
Download the printable below and take dictation for your child after asking, what is one small thing that you can do to help the Earth? Encourage them to take it a step further by sharing the idea with at least one other person and then help your child make a conscious effort to follow through!
